Humidity and label stock in Hong Kong storage rooms

Hong Kong humidity finds every weak adhesive. A cold-storage closet that feels fine in January can sweat in July, and paper labels lift at the corners first.

What fails

Office stickers, masking tape, and inkjet paper labels. They yellow, edge-curl, and leave residue that tempts people to relabel by hand—exactly when the register and the shelf fall out of sync.

What we prefer

Polyester or vinyl faces with adhesives rated for variable humidity, paired with a register kept in a sealed sleeve on a higher, drier shelf. The book should not live in the same damp pocket as the devices if the room lacks dehumidification.

A simple seasonal check

Twice a year—before peak humid months and after—run a gloved finger along label edges. Soft lift means schedule a Refresh & Reprint before information becomes unreliable.
